“The computer was born to solve problems that did not exist before.”
— Bill Gates
Computing is the beating heart of the modern world. We aim to equip young people with the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to design and make effective digital products for others to use. ICT enables young people to use digital tools as a means of expression to inform, persuade and entertain and to foster young people’s creativity and develop their independent learning skills.
At KS4 we offer two quite different qualifications to accommodate all students’ interests. The BTEC Level 1/ Level 2 Tech Award in Digital Information Technology (DIT) is designed for KS4 students interested in taking a creative and hands-on course alongside their GCSEs giving them a taste of what the IT sector is like, as well as the skills and confidence they will need to succeed in it. The BTEC in DIT allows students the chance to produce a practical solution to a digital brief and gain a broad range of valuable skills for a future in the digital industry.
Our GCSE in Computer Science is engaging and practical, encouraging creativity and problem solving. It encourages students to develop their understanding and application of the core concepts in computer science. Students also analyse problems in computational terms and devise creative solutions by designing, writing, testing and evaluating programs.
