Mrs Helen Rowland

Co-opted Governor

My two sons both attended Saddleworth School.  I am grateful to have lived in Saddleworth since 1995 and take an active part in our village life in Dobcross. I feel privileged to have worked in schools since 1990 and passionately believe a high-quality education in a great school makes a fundamental difference to all children’s lives, their lifelong love of learning and future career prospects.

I was a teacher until 2000 and from 2001 was proud to be Head Teacher at St. Mary’s, Greenfield for over twelve years. I am now the Chief Executive of Focus-Trust, a multi academy trust with fifteen primary schools in Oldham, Rochdale, Tameside, Trafford, Kirklees, Bradford and Cheshire West. As a Teacher Governor, Head Teacher, and Trustee of a large organisation, I recognise the serious and complex responsibilities of being a governor and will do all I can to support Saddleworth School’s leadership and staff to ensure that the children of Saddleworth School get the first-class education, and new school, they fully deserve.

In my role as Parent Governor, I will strive to make sure the children are always put first in any decision the school makes and work in partnership with parents, staff and pupils to positively raise the profile of school in the local and wider community.
